Created in 2013 by the Rhone Mediterranean and Corsica Water Agency and the association l’Œil d’Andromède, MEDTRIX (http://plateforme.medtrix) is an online mapping platform for monitoring coastal waters and ecosystems in the Mediterranean. It facilitates access and consultation of spatialized monitoring data of very good resolution (between 0 and 130 meters depth; 1/10000 scale maps) all along the French Mediterranean coast and for some areas in the Atlantic, Italy, Tunisia, Spain, and Morocco.
The MEDTRIX platform, at the service of the various actors in the marine environment (scientists, managers, technical agents, etc.), brings together monitoring data on coastal waters and marine ecosystems from various public and private structures (companies, universities, research institutes, government services), which corresponds to about fifty partners. These data are very varied: biological and chemical measurements (habitat monitoring, quality indicators), acoustic, physical (background temperature), geographical information, observations and modeling of uses and anthropic pressures and habitat mapping.
More than forty projects can be consulted on the platform and are grouped into eight categories:
Once a profile has been created, the user has access to all the projects and to the numerous functionalities of the platform: editing maps, viewing and downloading monitoring sheets / scientific publications / study reports, making graphs, displaying statistical data, comparing stations, using the WMS feed, etc. It also has the possibility to build its own map from the data available on Medtrix.
